Governed at board level, measured everywhere else.
Our sustainability strategy is governed at board level and translated into measurable KPIs for every business unit. It is the framework through which capital is allocated, partners are selected and performance is judged.
The distinction that matters is between a strategy that reports and one that decides. Ours sits in the second category: an ESG KPI that a business unit misses affects its capital allocation, not just its slide in the annual review.
- Emissions reduction pathway built on science-based methodology
- Quarterly ESG dashboards for all stakeholders
- Independent third-party assurance of reported figures
Halve by 2030, net zero by 2045.
A roadmap built on science-based methodology to halve operational emissions by 2030 and reach net zero across the value chain by 2045.
For a refurbishment business the value-chain figure is the harder and more meaningful one. Operational emissions from service centres are comparatively small; the emissions that matter sit upstream in manufacturing and downstream in disposal. Extending a battery's life is the primary lever, which is why the circular economy pillar and this one are effectively the same programme viewed from two angles.
Numbers that can be checked.
Quarterly ESG dashboards aligned with GRI, BRSR and ISSB reporting standards, giving investors and regulators a consistent view of performance.
Alignment with three frameworks is deliberate. GRI gives comparability with global peers, BRSR is the Indian regulatory standard, and ISSB is where investor-facing disclosure is converging. Reporting to all three costs more than reporting to one, but it means a figure quoted to a partner in Lagos means the same thing as one quoted to a regulator in Delhi. Methodology is published alongside the numbers on the carbon footprint pillar.
Materiality decided by the people affected.
Structured listening across employees, customers, regulators and communities, feeding directly into our materiality matrix and capital plan.
A materiality matrix built only from management assumptions tends to rank what is easy to measure. Technicians handling lead daily rank occupational safety far higher than a head-office exercise would, which is why labour and human rights carries the weight it does in our plan.
