Products and restoration.
What does "restored" actually mean?
A restored battery has been electrochemically reconditioned rather than rebuilt. Each unit is diagnosed, desulphated to dissolve the hardened lead sulphate blocking the plates, reconditioned, then capacity-graded. Restored units are tested to deliver at least 80% of original capacity, and anything failing verification is routed to licensed recycling rather than resold.
How long does a restored battery last?
Typically four to seven additional years, depending on chemistry and duty cycle. Expected life is published per unit as part of the warranty rather than quoted as a general figure, because it varies with how hard the battery is worked.
Is a restored battery as safe as a new one?
Yes. Every unit passes the same safety testing regime as new product, with additional thermal cycling specific to second-life cells. The restoration process itself is sealed — the battery is never opened and no chemicals are discharged.
Which batteries can be restored?
All lead-acid chemistries: flooded, tubular, VRLA, AGM, gel and traction batteries used in inverters, UPS systems, solar storage, telecom towers, forklifts and vehicles. Batteries with physical damage — a cracked case, buckled plates or an internal short — cannot be recovered.
Why do batteries fail early in the first place?
Around 82% of lead-acid failures are linked to sulphation rather than wear. Lead sulphate crystals form whenever a battery sits partially discharged, which is the normal state in backup duty. Over time they harden and block the active material. A battery designed for roughly 1,500 cycles is commonly discarded after about 900.
Does restoration work on very old batteries?
Recovery declines with age. Published research indicates the positive plate becomes difficult to restore after roughly four to five years of typical service, while younger batteries can achieve substantially higher recovery. This is why a diagnostic precedes any treatment — it makes the likely outcome knowable in advance.
Warranty and service.
What is the standard warranty?
36 months on restored units and 24 months on Battery-as-a-Service units, both extendable through a Comprehensive AMC. AMC cover includes on-site swap within 72 hours.
How do I register or claim a warranty?
Through the Register Warranty and Claim a Warranty pages under Support. Both take under five minutes. Registration within 30 days of installation unlocks the full warranty term.
How quickly does ReStore Life respond to a fault?
Support tickets are acknowledged within one business day, with an average resolution time of 72 hours across South Asia and the Middle East. Sites under a Comprehensive AMC have spare cells held against the agreement, which is what makes same-visit replacement possible.
What is included in a Comprehensive AMC?
Quarterly preventive maintenance, 48 managed spare cells held under the agreement, revival or replacement of faulty cells, real-time health monitoring and extended warranty — all under a single agreement.
What is the difference between AMC and Battery-as-a-Service?
An AMC services batteries you own, and the asset stays on your balance sheet. Under BaaS, ReStore Life owns the batteries and you pay a subscription for uptime. AMC suits organisations whose capital is already spent; BaaS suits those who would rather not own the assets at all.

Where does ReStore Life operate?
Across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa. The APAC head office is in Gurugram, India and the EMEA office in Deira, Dubai, with technician training academies in Gurugram, Dubai and Nairobi. Partner recruitment is currently active in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Ethiopia.
How large is the field engineering network?
More than 50 field engineers operate across South Asia, the Middle East and Africa, supplemented by certified service partners who receive dispatched job tickets in their local service zones.
Can I get a diagnostic before committing to anything?
Yes, and it is the recommended first step. A diagnostic measures capacity and internal resistance across the estate, separating batteries that are fine, batteries that are sulphated and recoverable, and batteries genuinely at end of life. Only the third group needs a purchase order.
Sustainability and compliance.
How is avoided CO2 calculated?
Using cradle-to-grave life-cycle assessment, comparing the embedded emissions of manufacturing a replacement battery against those of restoring the existing one. Published life-cycle assessments find that production energy accounts for roughly 55% of a lead-acid battery's global warming potential, which is the share restoration avoids. The methodology is published alongside the figure in the annual ESG report.
What happens to a battery at true end of life?
It goes to a licensed recycler. Lead-acid recycling recovers three streams: the lead plates and terminals, the polypropylene casing, and the sulphuric acid electrolyte. All three re-enter manufacturing. Lead-acid is among the most recycled products in the world, with recovery rates above 95%.
Which certifications does ReStore Life hold?
ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, maintained across all operating sites.
Is battery refurbishment regulated in India?
Yes. The Battery Waste Management Rules 2022, notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 22 August 2022, apply directly to entities refurbishing used batteries. Refurbishers must register with the Central Pollution Control Board, and operating without registration can attract environmental compensation under the polluter pays principle.
Why does a vendor's compliance status matter to me as a customer?
Because waste handling liability follows the customer, not only the operator. A registered, certified operation can serve enterprise and government contracts that require documented environmental and safety controls. An informal workshop cannot bid for those at all, and its disposal practices become your exposure.
Partnership and training.
How do I become a franchisee?
A ReStore franchise is a turnkey retail outlet selling restored batteries, solar equipment and inverters. Initial investment is USD 35,000 to 80,000 depending on market, with owner-operator commitment for the first 18 months and the ability to register a local entity. What is the difference between the three partnership routes?
A franchisee runs a retail outlet serving end customers. A distributor moves product through an existing network to trade and B2B buyers, with a USD 100,000 minimum annual commitment. A service provider gets certified free and receives dispatched job tickets — the lowest barrier of the three, suited to firms already doing electrical or battery service.
Do I need battery industry experience to become a partner?
Not for a franchise or service partnership. Technicians are trained and certified at a ReStore Life academy in Gurugram, Dubai or Nairobi before an outlet opens. Distribution does require an existing footprint in batteries, solar, telecom or industrial channels.
Are training programmes accredited?
Yes. Programmes are accredited locally and internationally, and graduates follow a certified pathway into engineering and field-service roles.
Does ReStore Life take apprentices?
Every region runs an apprentice-to-engineer pathway taking school leavers through structured training to certified engineer status, with employment offered on completion. No prior battery qualification is required to start.
Does ReStore Life charge candidates or partners any application fee?
No. There is no fee for job applications, interviews or partner enquiries at any stage. All official recruitment communication comes from info@restorelife.io only, and any request for payment should be treated as fraudulent.
